Fine Art; drawing movement

After seeing Jenny Saville’s work, it inspired me to focus on how I drew my friend John while he moved doing his work, in order to show movement without confusing anyone…

<I only focused on the head and top torso because of my view sat down with John while he worked. I definitely want to try drawing him while we are both standing up, so I can look at the movement of the full body.

After doing these drawings I want to try using a different material, such as oil paint and on a larger scale, maybe using an easel:)

Jenny Saville

In Fine Art i’m looking at this artist as I like the way she shows movement in her charcoal drawings. These pieces are on a very large scale, yet they are also drawn from life.

Looking at her work has helped me focus on representing movement in people in a clearer way than before.

‘Reproduction Drawing IV’

These show portraits of people, yet the way Saville has included repeated sketches of the subjects in different positions give them more personality and humanity.

It’s intresting to see that most of the people she draws are women and most of the time, naked, which could suggest the vunerabilty of their identity being fully shown.
